Bringing Plants into the Bedroom
Nothing says "fresh" quite like green plants. As those in northern climates look forward to a few more months of snow and cold, adding green, living plants to one's home is a special treat.
But where to begin? If a green thumb isn't in your makeup, don't worry. Succulents are a wonderful way to add plants to a bedroom and require very little upkeep. Picture a planter full of a variety of succulent plants on the nightstand beside your best platform bed - platformbedexpert.com . Or perhaps you want something even easier? A pretty glazed pottery bowl filled with miniature cacti near a window will add interest to your bedroom and round out the soft angles of a twin platform bed.
If you have a loft platform bed, picture this: Use the section underneath the bed and create a mini greenhouse! Add simple shelves or small end tables and cover the tops with green plants and flowering bulbs in a variety of heights and sizes. Of course, this requires access to a good, sunny window and also a green thumb.
If you are too busy with plants of any kind right now, consider purchasing a fresh bouquet from the local florist or market. Plants and flowers add so much pleasure and ambiance to a room for such a small investment.

How Does Your Garden Grow? In Your Bedroom!
It's that time of the year again—time to think about gardens and birdsong, lawn care and DIY projects after a long winter. If you live in the northern climates, this was an especially hard winter and you're likely ready to get out in the garden.
But while spring has sprung, it's still a bit early to start planting in the northernmost climates. It's a perfect time, however, to start seeds indoors. If you don't have the luxury of a sunroom or greenhouse dedicated to the task, don't despair. All you really need are some south-facing windows and a little organization.
First assess your master bedroom and guest room. Do either of these have windows that get good southern exposure? If so, great! If not, we'll discuss some other options.
Let's say that your master bedroom has two good sized southern facing windows. After potting up your plants (ever considered housing extra bags of unopened soil, seeds, and other seed starting implements in the drawers under your platform bed?), erect a table or bench nearest these windows. Keep seedlings watered well and voila! In a few days, you should see some growth emerging.
But what if your bedrooms aren't equipped with windows pointing in the right direction? That's what grow lights are for. You can easily purchase stands that house these special lights, but making one yourself isn't rocket science. You'll need a bit more room for this endeavor though, so it makes sense to push the best platform bed or full platform bed out of the way of your work area before starting. Then, simply set up your grow light unit, add your potted seeds, and wait for the magic to happen.
